Situated in Plaza Bolivar on Calle 3 Este, adjacent to the Iglesia de San Francisco de Asís, proudly stands a prominent government edifice that overlooks the sea. The Bolivar Palace, known as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Chancellery of Panama, ranks among the grandest and most imposing structures in Casco Viejo.
This distinguished building served as an educational institution for almost a century, witnessing several transformations:
• From 1892 to 1899, it housed the Balboa National School.
• In 1904, it became the esteemed Colegio La Salle.
• Between 1953 and 1959, it was known as the San Agustin school.
• In 1959, it was rechristened the Bolivar Institute.
• In 1999, the Bolivar Institute had to vacate its premises, a step mandated by the agreement between UNESCO and the National Government, signed in 1995, which aimed to elevate the Bolivar Hall to the status of a global monument.
This image beautifully captures the intricate splendor of the structure, framed against a backdrop of a resplendent sky. The detailing is nothing short of divine. What sets this image apart is its tall and narrow format, making it a perfect fit for those slender wall spaces in need of a distinctive piece of artwork. This image is only available in one size.
