Among the most remarkable historical artifacts in Casco Antiguo are the remnants of La Compañía. Hotel La Compañía now occupies the site where La Compañía de Jesús (Company of Jesus) established itself following the devastation of the original Panama City in 1671. The Jesuit Convent, a centerpiece of Casco Antiguo, was erected in 1673, marking a significant chapter in Panama's history.

Recently, an extensive restoration effort has breathed new life into Hotel La Compañía, welcoming guests to embark on a captivating historical journey. The hotel beautifully resurrects three distinct eras in Panama's history, reinvigorating this landmark location with opulent modern design. Guests can choose to stay in one of three wings, each representing a piece of the old town (Casco Antiguo): the meticulously curated French Colonial wing, originally built by Jesuit priests in 1739; the Spanish Colonial wing, with roots dating back to 1688; or the Beaux-Arts rooms in the American wing, which traces its history back to 1904.

On the far side of the hotel, you'll find the original exterior wall constructed by the Jesuits. This image offers a street view of the original calicanto wall from Calle San José, affording a glimpse into the entrance of Plaza Independencia. In the distance, one of the towers of Catedral Basilica Santa Maria La Antigua emerges. The overcast atmosphere in this image imparts a dramatic and breathtaking quality. It harmonizes seamlessly with other images in the collection, making it a captivating addition to any collection.
